SURPRISE

We had a great weekend filled two little surprises. We are putting in the sewer line so once again we have a tractor here (my boys are having the time of there life!) We went and picked it up on Saturday and afterwards I went to the store and when I got home I could hear one of my goats making a "I'm having a baby" noise if you've ever heard it you know what I mean. This really surprised me because no one looked ready to have babies but sure enough there in the barn was my Suzy goat just minutes away from popping a baby out! So the boys I gathered in there to watch and quickly throw extra straw in. She had a beautiful doe first and then a tiny little buck afterwards which she didn't seem to realize she had since she was standing and he dropped to the ground with me kinda catching him poor little guy. I waited to see if she was going to notice him but she was to busy with her first baby so we put him up by his mom and started to peel some stuff off his nose at least so he could breathe while trying to get mom to notice him. She finally did and got them both cleaned off. We helped dry them with a towel because it is freezing out. Poor little guys I will probably not have babies this time of year again brrr....just glad we were working outside this weekend or I probably would've been cuddling with a blanket in the house and who knows what would've happened timing is a funny thing! They are both doing great with two little boys worrying over there every move and checking on them constantly.. There very worried because that little girl is following her mom everywhere and is already venturing out with the big goats but no one seems to mind. Brendon wants to just keep them in the house with him LOL I love that my boys get these life experiences it's just great!

We got the sewer line in now after hand digging 20 feet of it looking for our propane line and of course if we would've dug one more foot with the tractor we would've found it!!! Oh well!! I can only say that cause I didn't dig much Hayden helped his dad all day we are so proud of him he is SUCH a hard worker. He's dad was beaming with pride all day. Both of them have a little sore throat though this morning and I am hoping it is just from being outside all day yesterday.

Never a Dull Moment...

Well There is never a dull moment around the Rogers Household these days. It started with Tuesday night......(imagine here the music that goes do do do do do do do as someone remembers back LOL) I went to take my bath and realized the toilet wouldn't flush so I yelled for Stevan and he informed me it wasn't going to in one day our septic decided it wasn't going to take any more crap literally. We had been planning on doing our septic system after taxes because as of right now we have a super small system and it has to be bigger before we can add on. Well I guess we're doing it sooner than we planned. Pete our wonderful family friend and also very talented plumber and excavationer!! YES!!! Just what we needed THANK YOU PETE!! AND BETTY!!! had a give a little shout out there! anyway Pete came and pumped our tank on Wednesday so we can at least flush. cause that is really a helpful thing to be able to do! Stevan's boss is letting Stevan bring his huge Track ho here for the weekend to set these tanks and is supplying all the gravel and any supplies we may need. He even offered to buy the tanks for us which are a none to cheap $7135 Yeah pick up your jaw up off the floor! But I am so so so so thankful for all the help we are getting because otherwise this bill would be sitting somewheres around $15000 so let's be grateful! We felt that was just to much for him to do though I had to force myself to say no LOL So today is the big day of deliveries and all morning the boys have been saying Pete is coming over we get to see Pete today and dad's bringing home his track ho as they dance around. There just a little excited! Whenever Pete comes over for anything they both sit in the window just waiting.. they sure love him I don't blame them he is a GREAT guy!

As if things weren't exciting enough....(music comes in again) I am always trying to win something on the radio cause it's exciting and really cool stuff and FREE!! Try as I may though I'm never the right caller but I just keep trying. Yesterday it paid off..I was doing the dishes and I heard the Q to call but I didn't hear what it was for and I thought whatever I never get through anyway and then I thought what the heck I'll try so I ran and called ..busy called again...busy then called one more time and was met with a ring...and when she answered I was the 9th caller let me tell you I freaked I was so excited!!!! still am! Well turned out I won tickets to see Blue County (they sing that song Good little girls make some mighty wild women) love that song by the way and there playing at Shorty's Saloon in Boise. I was so excited until I figured out it was Friday today when were doing all this drain field stuff BUMMER and it starts at 9:30 so Stevan didn't' want to be out that late cause we have to be able to think tomorrow and he's right ....BUT IT STILL SUCKS LOL oh well at least I won so now I am trying to find someone to give them to I have a few ideas we'll see.

Well that sums up the excitement around here I'll take pics and post our new drain field project soon.

CHRISTMAS COOKIES

We've been making cookies lately with Kaitlyn our neighbor..It was so much fun and as you can see the boys had a great "hands on" experience. Everything turned out great and I still have about 8 more things I want to bake. This session lasted from 1:00-7:00 we were all very done cooking by then and my kitchen looked like a bomb went off OH WELL! it was worth it!

life on the farm

It's been a busy day already....My little dog Missy really needs to grow because she keep squeezing through the fence to our not so nice neighbor who will not hesitate to shoot her...so this morning I got to put new wire up the fence. Then it is getting very cold at night so I had to restock straw and bed everyone. Breeding season is done I hope so I moved all my girls to one pen and all the boys to another. That is a stinky job for anyone who has ever had the pleasure of smelling a buck in rut you know what I am talking about (pee yewww!!!) So glad to get all that done...Winter is never so fun to have animals.

We put up the Christmas tree on Saturday and my boys lovingly decorated it so all my ornaments are in one spot it's perfect though through my mom eyes. I think we will make paper chains today. Those are always fun. I had bought Frost the snowman ornaments to make but I need a hot glue gun to make them so I'll have to add that to my wish list..(that's getting pretty long now ) We have all our cookie ingredients so we will start that adventure soon. I gave the boys one of my cookie cook books and let then each pick out a recipe they want to make it was so cute they were in there room deciding for about a half hour. And of course they both picked tricky ones but i do love a cooking challenge..I am going to try to make gingerbread men this year I'm very excited!

We had my friend Sara over for cards last night that is always a blast and she gave me Amish Friendship bread oh my gosh good!!! Some of you will be getting that for a Christmas Present! Other than that we're almost done with Basketball we have our last practice today and then wed and sat we have tournament games. That should be fun to watch Hayden has really enjoyed basketball and I am have to but am so so glad to get some peace from running all the time. I guess they can do wresting now at his age but I just need a break we all do I think!
