Gardens
Yes I know your thinking it's a bit early to think about gardens but I can't help it. I'm longing for summer or spring or just warmth so bad. I can't wait to plant and enjoy the fresh produce again! But the planning part is always fun too. When my garden is empty it always looks so little but it completely amazes me how much we fit into that little space. I keep trying to find new spaces we can till up and utilize as food growing space but Stevan keeps telling me no. Which he's probably right. My garlic is popping up. THAT WAS SO EXCITING TO FIND!! I tried to grow spinach and lettuce in the house this year but haven't had any luck with it. I will keep on trying though. I can't wait for my gurney's catalog to get here so I can flip and dream. I know I'm weird but I'm okay with that. (= I have been reading everything I can on the things I want to focus on this year. The list so far for the 2011 year:
Potatoes, tomatoes (cherry and big), cucumber (pickling and slicing), zucchini, squash (not sure of all the kinds yet), peppers(bells and jalapenos), lettuce, spinach, green beans, peas, carrots, radishes, kalarahbi (I had so much fun learning about these last year I can't wait to grow a nice crop this year) , cabbage, watermelon, pumpkins (we ate so much pumpkin this year I never knew it was so tasty!) onions, cantaloupe. I also want to get a great strawberry patch going, a grapevine, and a good herb patch along with some blackberries and possibly plant some more fruit trees. I'd like apple, peach, plum, and pear.
I think that was all. I just am so excited to get started but I truly am looking foward to the planning of it all. I love looking at all the seeds. well there you have it. I have spring and dirt on my mind. We should have baby goats any day now I will post pics when they arrive.
